Hunt Canyon Regional Hydrology Study
Foothill Ranch (formally College Park) is a sustainable, equestrian themed master plan community with an extensive trails system, hydrology/water quality, and open space program. The project consists of 640 residential estate units, an elementary school site, multiple park facilities, an equestrian center, retention ponds/basins, and open space (including a trailhead and trail system) proposed to be donated as permanent public recreational open space.
Diamond West was responsible for preparing the Specific Plan document and acting as the sustainable design consultants. Diamond West prepared the Hunt Canyon Regional Hydrology Study consisting of approximately five square miles. This regional study was utilized as an update to the City’s Drainage Master Plan for this area.
The project is located in Palmdale, California, a desert community located north of Los Angeles. There is a major drainage area (Hunt Canyon) bifurcating the project site that requires significant coordination with Fish and Game and Army Corps of Engineers. The site also includes historic trails and the historic Palmdale Ditch. Both of these historic facilities are preserved and integrated into the project design.
